FAQ

  • Can I bring my own food?
  • Yes, you can bring food with you.  However we suggest bringing finger foods as our gondolas are not equipped with tables.  We ask that you take everything with you when you leave.

  • Can I buy a bottle of wine from you?
  • Yes you can.  We have champagne, merlot, chardonnay, and moscato available for sale, as well as non-alcoholic sparkling cider and bottled water.

    If you’d like to bring your own bottle of wine, there is a small corkage fee and we will provide cups, a bottle opener, and an ice bucket for you.

  • Can I smoke on the gondola?
  • For safety purposes we do not allow smoking of any kind on the gondola.

  • Do you allow small pets or service animals?
  • Yes, we do allow service animals on our gondolas. Small pets are sometimes allowed but please confirm with our reservation desk before you schedule your cruise.

  • Do you have life jackets for children?
  • We have life jackets for children in our office. Please let us know at the time of booking if you plan on bringing children, so we can have them ready for you.

     Adult life jackets are always on the boats – but we’ve never needed them!

  • Can I take a group of 7 (or more) on a gondola cruise?
  • Our gondolas can only take a maximum of six passengers, regardless of age (even if they’re infants or small children). However, you can take a group of 7 (or more) by reserving more than one gondola for a flotilla.

  • Will my gondolier sing or play music?
  • All of our gondoliers have music and they will play it softly in the background for you.

     Some of our gondoliers sing and some of them do not. You can always request a singing gondolier at the time of booking, but we cannot guarantee a singing gondolier on your ride.

  • Can I bring my own music?
  • Since all of our gondoliers already provide relaxing and romantic music, we suggest leaving the Metallica soundtrack at home.

  • What happens in the case of rain?
  • In the event of rain we will issue you rain-check to be redeemed within a year from the rained out date.  We do not issue refunds. We will cruise in light rain at the guests’ request (we recommend you bring an umbrella if light rain is in the forecast). For comfort reasons, we don’t recommend cruising when the winds are 15-17 mph.

    For safety reasons, we are not able to cruise when the wind exceeds 17 mph or when lightning is forecast.

  • Where does the gondola go?
  • Our gondolas cruise through the quiet canals around Newport Island.

  • Is Gondola Company of Newport open year round?
  • Yes, we are open year-round. However, we are closed on some holidays.

  • Is there a dress code?
  • There is no dress code. You can dress as casual or as fancy as you would like.

  • Can you give me some restaurant recommendations?
  • We are located next to many great restaurants. Please check their websites for menu & pricing.

  • Do you pick-up from any restaurants?
  • We can pick you up from the docks in front of The Winery and in front of   Billy’s at the Beach. Please call them directly to make a dinner reservation, and be sure to tell them the time you scheduled your gondola cruise.

  • What happens if I'm late?
  • Any amount of time that you are late will cut into your time on the water. We recommend arriving 15 minutes early in order to ensure your full time on the water.

  • Where do I park?
  • Parking is available in the underground parking in front of our office. If there is a parking attendant on duty, there will be a small fee for parking.  In the unlikely event that our parking lot is full, there is street parking nearby, as well as a public lot about a block away.

  • Do I need to tip my gondolier?
  • Tip is not included and is recommended at 15%-20% of the total cost of your gondola ride. However you can tip any amount that you would like – the gondoliers always appreciate more!

  • Do I need a reservation?
  • Yes you do need to make a reservation. We can occasionally accommodate walk-ins but we strongly recommend reserving in order to ensure the time slot you want.

    You can book online on our website, call us at 949-675-1212, or email us at [email protected] to reserve your cruise.  Payment for the cruise is due when you make the reservation.

  • What should I bring?
  • You don’t need to bring anything other than your guest, but some people like to have a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water, or snacks.

  • What is your cancelation policy?
  • All reservations require payment at the time of booking and are non-refundable. Coupons, gift certificates, and cruise vouchers must be used at the time of booking and will not be accepted after the reservation is confirmed. If you are redeeming a gift certificate or cruise voucher and you cancel or do not show up for your cruise, the certificate or cruise voucher is considered redeemed.

  • How do I reschedule my cruise?
  • If you need to reschedule your cruise after your reservation is made, there will be a $10 transaction fee. Except in the case of inclement weather, rescheduling must be arranged at least 72 hours before the scheduled cruise time.
